Both oars in the water
I’ll row this rowboat beyond
the harbor’s lone buoy
far out to sea where earth
meets stars and the world
cares nothing of this vessel
how it passed alone through storms
and fires awaiting more driftwood
strewn upon the sandy shores of time
until one day I must surrender and return
this empty hull to the bottom and sing a water song
for all those smiling & curious dolphins
not much of a song, just enough to say
I floated a while upon the Earth
but kept my anchor fastened to the stars.
